Academy Executive Board

The Academy Executive Board is essentially the leading body consisting of the Administrative Committee and the Academic Board. Of the two, the Academic Board has purely an assessing and safeguarding role of the teaching, learning and assessment quality standards.

Administrative Committee

The Administrative Committee is responsible for providing active leadership to the Academy in promoting excellence in teaching and enhancing and assuring the quality of teaching and learning. It also has to establish a platform of trust and respect between the CE Int’l Academy and its students. It is responsible for the following:

  • Providing the Academy with analysis and advice on pedagogical issues including teaching, curriculum design, assessment and evaluation.

  • Liaising with and providing advice to the Head of Academy around issues related to teaching and learning.

  • Identifying and coordinating staff development needs to enhance the quality of teaching, learning and assessment, academic guidance and learner support.

  • Appointment of academic staff.

  • Advising the Head of Academy where appropriate on resources required for teaching and learning, including the Academy’s teaching and learning budget and allocation of teaching loads.

  • Ensuring effective communication between academic and administrative staff in the area of teaching and learning.

  • Management and delivery of student-focused support and administrative services that relate to all aspects of learners’ engagement with their studies, ranging from prospective learner enquiries, through to graduation.

  • Providing administrative support for teaching and learning activities through a range of services that support academic decision-making processes, information provision and dissemination.

Head of Academy

The Head of the Academy is also the Director of Academic Services and is generally responsible for the teaching & educational development of the Academy. In particular, he is responsible for:

  • Overseeing the preparation of Teaching and Learning related documentation for quality assurance or review purposes.

  • Seeking information, input and advice beyond the Committee and the Academy to facilitate decision making and initiatives on teaching and learning issues.

  • The management and dissemination of authoritative programme information for the CE Int’l Academy’s programme.

  • Providing leadership and support to staff to improve teaching effectiveness and student learning in the context of the CE Int’l Academy policy.

  • Leading, supporting and promoting the adoption of best practice in curriculum design, teaching and assessment.

  • Identifying emerging teaching and learning issues and opportunities of relevance to the Academy.

  • Developing and implementing the Academy’s Teaching and Learning Enhancement Plan in accordance with the Academy’s Strategic planning in this area.

  • Encouraging, recognising and rewarding high quality teaching and learning.

  • Internationalisation of the Academy.

  • Guidance and development of staff and the management of staff-related issues.

  • The maintenance of the Academy’s organisational databases.

  • Ensuring that staff are properly inducted.

  • The Complaints Management.

  • The full alignment of the curriculum and its objectives and learning outcomes, materials and assessment processes with the EMCC and ICF Competencies Framework.

Academic Staff

The Academic Staff works closely with the Head of Academy and the Director of Student Affairs to ensure that all practices are consistent with good teaching practices and high impact student learning activities while retaining their innovative style and individuality.

Academic Staff Responsibilities

The Academic Staff Responsibilities & Roles set out the criteria and standards against which the performance of the academic staff member is assessed in combination with the Teaching and Planning Skills outlined in the Trainer Manual.

Teaching
  • Being familiar with the latest developments in the coaching discipline.

  • Undertaking teaching (and associated coordination) in a range of settings appropriate to the CE Academy’s needs.

  • Supervision of students.

  • Undertaking reflection, review and continuous improvement of curriculum, teaching resources and teaching approaches.

  • Applying new ideas in the coaching discipline or profession and new ideas about teaching to teaching practice.

Scholarship of teaching
  • Developing, practising, evaluating, and communicating improved pedagogies applicable to coaching education, learning processes, and learning materials.

  • Having an understanding of how people learn and what practices are most effective in the context of the coaching discipline or the profession, and how these practices may be specifically related to training and standards in a particular professional context.

  • Applying these understandings to classroom or coaching work that

  • breaks new ground

  • can be replicated and elaborated

  • is documented and subject to peer review.

Service and engagement
  • Contributing to activities that benefit the Academy.

  • Providing effective links between the Academy and the external community, including professional activities, in particular so that:

  • teaching is fully informed by the coaching practice;

  • students have opportunities to undertake community engagement;

  • the standing of the coaching discipline or profession is enhanced locally, nationally or internationally;

  • the CE Int’l Academy’s profile is enhanced locally, nationally or internationally.

Assessment Manager

The Assessment Manager works closely with the Head of the Academy to ensure the smooth distribution and collection of assessment and evaluation sheets and provide the Academic Board with the results of all formative and summative assessment and evaluation tools relating to the students and the course.

E-Learning Manager

The E-Learning Manager is chiefly responsible for the smooth running of the E-Coaching Blended Learning Course. Certain activities he undertakes are:

  • Registration procedures for remote students

  • Account creation and login codes for enrolled students (local, national and international)

  • Technological issues that might arise

  • Control and review of uploaded material relating to the course

  • Administrative review of submitted assignments from the students

  • Updating Dropbox materials

Director of Finance and Business Services
  • Fees management for local, national and international students

  • Initiatives for possible scholarships from business, corporate or other enterprises

  • Advertising issues

  • Liaison with industry for placement of students to complete their workplace learning or practice to gain coaching hours.

Academic Board

Standard Business of the Academic Board. The Academic Board is chiefly responsible for the quality assurance and is not involved in the administration services of the Academy. Therefore, it is responsible for:

  • Ensuring teaching and learning practices in accordance with the outlined Academy procedures

  • Monitoring all aspects of assessment including assessment design, compliance with assessment and evaluation processes, analysis of results, and finalisation of grades

  • Approval of programme revisions

  • Preparing for programme, Academy reviews, and accreditation where appropriate

  • Assisting with the Curriculum and Teaching Quality Evaluation (CTQE) process

  • Preparing the CTQE reports with recommendations

  • Programme amendments/introductions

Membership of the Academic Board. 7 members comprising:

  • 2 Professors (upon invitation)

  • 2 Non-Professors (based on relevance and expertise)

  • Head of School

  • 2 graduate or current students (based on motivation letter)

The President.

  • Acts as the Executive Officer of the Board

  • Chairs the Board

  • Remains informed of the activities and issues affecting the academic activities of the Academy

  • Is elected annually for the ensuing year

  • Is eligible for two successive terms

  • Any member of the Academic Board is eligible to nominate for President
